The switch

One stem. Three tracks. One decision.

A diagram in motion, not a recording. Each dot stands for a link reaching the switch, the gold ring is where the rule is applied, and the track that lights up is the lane that link was sent down.

A link arrives on one track, the rule picks a lane, and the link leaves on it. The animated version of this diagram needs WebGL.

Shunt receives the link first. If the answer is unambiguous, it opens the winning browser and profile directly. The picker only appears when you need to decide.

The fallback is still fast.

It appears at the pointer, shows browsers and profiles with their real avatars, and stays under the keyboard. Press a number to open. Use Command-Return or Option-Return to make the next link automatic.

Beyond the click

Every link surface.

Shunt is not a browser and renders nothing. It routes links from across macOS, then gets out of the way.

The WebExtension sends the current page or a link under the pointer to another browser and profile.

Extensions

A link inside a page never reaches macOS.

The default browser only hears about links the system hands it. A link you click while already reading a page is handled by that browser and never reaches Shunt. The extension closes that gap: one button, or a right-click, sends the page you are on — or a link on it — straight to the picker. One source, built into every browser below, so it behaves the same everywhere.

Two options travel with it: a keyboard shortcut for the button, and closing the tab you sent once the other browser has the link — off until you turn it on, and never when you sent a link out of a page you are still reading.
