What you are buying
One payment of $12 USD for a licence to use Shunt on your own Macs. No subscription, no renewal, nothing that charges you again.
Who you are buying from
Shunt is made and sold by Nia D Pham, a sole proprietorship based in Vietnam, reachable at support@shuntapp.com.
Polar is the Merchant of Record. The sale itself is made by Polar, who take payment, handle sales tax and VAT, issue the receipt and appear on your card statement. Your contract for the payment is with Polar; your licence to use the software is granted under this page.
The licence
Paying for Shunt grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it. The licence does not expire and there is no recurring charge.
- You may install and use Shunt on up to three Macs that you own or control. An activation can be released from one machine and moved to another.
- You may use it for work as well as personally. A company buying for its staff needs one licence per person.
- You may not resell it, sublicense it, rent it out, or distribute your licence key.
- You may not remove or alter the licensing mechanism, or publish a modified build.
The software itself stays the property of its author. You are buying a licence to use it, not the copyright.
What updates you get
Your licence covers the version you bought and every update released under the same major version, at no extra cost. A future major version may be a separate paid upgrade. If it is, the version you paid for keeps working exactly as it does now; nothing is switched off to push you into buying again.
Shunt is pre-release software at version 0.1.0. It is offered as it is today, not on the promise of a specific feature arriving later. Buy it for what it already does.
Refunds
Fourteen days, no reason needed. If Shunt is not what you wanted, write to support@shuntapp.com within 14 days of your purchase and the payment is refunded in full. You do not have to justify it and you will not be argued with.
Refunds are processed by Polar back to the original payment method, and typically appear within five to ten business days depending on your bank. After a refund the licence key stops being valid, which is the whole of the consequence.
If Shunt is broken in a way that stops it doing its job and cannot be fixed for you, the refund window does not apply and you can have your money back whenever that happens.
What Shunt requires
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Shunt must be allowed to become your default web browser, which macOS asks you to confirm, because that is the only way it can receive links at all. It launches other browsers with command-line arguments to open a specific profile. If either of those is not acceptable on a machine you manage, Shunt cannot work there.
Shunt is not distributed through the Mac App Store and cannot be, because both behaviours above are forbidden inside the App Store sandbox.
No warranty
Shunt is provided as it is, without a warranty of any kind, whether stated or implied, including any implied warranty that it is fit for a particular purpose. Browsers change how they handle profiles, and macOS changes how it hands over links; something that works today may need a fix tomorrow.
To the extent the law allows, liability for any claim connected to Shunt is limited to what you paid for it. Shunt routes links; it is not part of any critical system and must not be relied on as if it were.
Nothing here removes a right your local consumer law gives you and does not allow to be signed away.
Ending the licence
You can stop using Shunt whenever you like; delete the app and it is done. The licence ends if it is used in a way this page forbids, such as redistributing the key. In that case there is no refund.
Changes to these terms
The date at the top changes when the text does. A change never applies backwards to a licence already bought: whatever you agreed to on the day you paid is what governs your copy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. The Merchant of Record arrangement with Polar is governed separately by Polar's own terms, which cover the payment itself.
