Cookie Policy
This site sets no cookies
There is no consent banner here because there is nothing to consent to. shuntapp.com stores nothing in your browser, identifies nobody, and runs no analytics of any kind.
Verifiable, not just claimed. Open your browser's developer tools on any page of this site and look at Storage. There are no cookies, no local storage entries, no session storage and no IndexedDB databases. The pages send no Set-Cookie header.
What this site does not use
- No analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom or any other analytics script.
- No advertising or marketing cookies, and no retargeting pixel.
- No social media embeds, so no cookies from a social network either.
- No third-party fonts. The typefaces are the ones already on your device.
- No A/B testing, session recording, heatmaps or chat widget.
- No login, so no session or authentication cookie.
The moving graphics on the home page are drawn by your own browser with WebGL. They send nothing anywhere and store nothing.
The one technical exception
This site is served through Cloudflare. If Cloudflare's bot protection ever challenges a request it considers suspicious, it may set a short-lived cookie of its own, usually named __cf_bm, purely to remember that the challenge was passed. It carries no identifier of you, is not readable by us, is not used for analytics or advertising, and expires within about half an hour. It is a strictly necessary security cookie under the usual definitions, which is why no consent prompt is required for it.
At the time this page was written, ordinary requests to this site receive no cookie at all, including that one.
Server logs are not cookies
Cloudflare keeps standard server logs for delivering and protecting the site, which include IP addresses and are retained for a short period on their systems. That happens at the network level, not in your browser, and it is not something a cookie banner would cover. It is described on the privacy page.
If you buy Shunt
Checkout is hosted by Polar, the Merchant of Record for the sale, on Polar's own domain. Once you leave this site for the checkout, Polar's cookie policy applies to that page, not this one, and they do need cookies to run a payment session. Nothing about that payment writes a cookie back onto shuntapp.com.
The app is separate from this site
Shunt itself is a macOS app, not a web page, so cookies do not apply to it. It keeps your routing rules in a plain JSON file on your own disk and sends no browsing data anywhere. The only request the app makes on its own is a once-a-day check for a newer version. The detail is on the privacy page.
Changes
If this site ever starts setting a cookie, this page is updated before that happens and will name the cookie, say what it is for and how long it lasts. Questions go to support@shuntapp.com.
